I’m Amelia Curry, a print-loving enthusiast based in the bluegrass country of Kentucky as I pursue my BFA in Graphic Design. My work is heavily inspired by punk post-modernism art as shown by my love for vivid colors, gritty illustrations, and hand-written typeface creation, which is something I just started teaching myself how to do. 

 

Ever since I was little, I always wanted to pursue something creative. For a good part of my childhood I would have pictures that I drew taped to my bedroom walls, nearly hiding the fact that there was ever a wall at all. This devotion to art continued throughout my life, whether it was learning photography, painting, video editing – I wanted to do it all.

 

Being the jack of all trades (and master of none) that I am, when I’m not working on a project, I tend to decompress by playing whatever my favorite video game is at the moment (currently Skyrim or replaying Tears of the Kingdom), do some occasional baking, and crocheting pieces that I may never finish if I’m being honest with myself. 

 

It wasn’t until I decided to minor in Graphic Design that everything started opening up for me. It was something I was excited to do, something I was confident in, and something I had fun doing. What I love about Graphic Design is the ability to communicate emotions, thoughts, and ideas through the simplest creation. It’s something most people often look over without thinking about the amount of time and thought that went into making the everyday billboard or book cover. But I love thinking about the choices that had to be made in order for it to come into someone’s hand, because that to me makes it all the more satisfying.
